Creative Workshops
Once a month we have a visit from a local artist to host a craft workshop for adults and children alike. We are delighted to welcome Elif Lewis for 45 minute hands-on workshops over the Autumn months :
Saturday 10 – Sunday 11 October : Samhain Shadows Charcoal Drawing: exploring shadow, fire and the changing seasons through charcoal drawing and simple printmaking.
Saturday 21 – Sunday 22 November: Farmstead Activity
Saturday 12 – Sunday 13 December : Festive Crafts
Times: Saturdays: 10.30am and 13.30 and Sundays: 11.15am and 14.00
Drop in activities and workshops are suitable for all ages. Children need to be supervised by an accompanying adult. No booking required just head for The Prehistory Centre on arrival and explore at your own pace!
Plus explore the Iron Age Farmstead exhibition, where you can discover real archaeological artefacts and the stories behind everyday life thousands of years ago or have a go dressing up in an Iron Age tunic!
Make a day of it
During your visit you can also book onto a Faery Trail around the woods or a session of Disc Golf before enjoying a light refreshment in The Woodland Bistro.

Thanks to National Lottery players and The National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project will produce the upcoming Iron Age Farmstead and Shaping Britain exhibitions within our Prehistory Centre. From visitors
The backdrops and exhibitions have encouraged me to teach this period in more depth and detail. I feel much more confident teaching this period in the future.
It was a jaw dropping moment for the children! The hands on experience always sticks in childrens’ minds.
