The First Family Saturday

As the emergence of Spring reveals itself throughout the Celtic Harmony Camp, our team just wanted to extend a special thank you to all those families who joined us for the first Family Saturday of the year.

It was a misty morning but visitingchildren and adults alike were happy to roll up their sleeves and get involved as we prepped our archery area for the new season. The children learned about identifying silver birch and gathering it into kindling bundles. Some of us also gathered and arranged dead wood into habitat bundles to create focus points within our ecosystem where minibeasts and other invertebrates can thrive.  Under careful supervision adults and children alike interacted with the forest.  We came away with a full barrel of materials that our visiting school groups will be able to use for our fire lighting workshops.

The morning was rounded off with a hot drink and a chat in our cafe as the children got messy in the sand pit.  We want to thank all those who joined us on Saturday and hope to see you all next month for our next Family Saturday (which looks to be a little warmer than this one!). Book your slot here.

Our Family Saturdays have been planned as part of our Lavina’s Legacy project, co funded with the Heritage National Lottery. Lavina’s Legacy was created in memory of one of our most positive and long serving volunteers. You can read more about the project on the Get Involved pages.
