Accommodation: Iron Age Roundhouses

We have seven roundhouses creating the largest Iron Age village in England.

Our five 6m diameter roundhouses include:

  • Background radiator heating
  • Lighting and electricity
  • WiFi
  • Insulated floors and walls
  • Soft gym mats for comfortable sleeping

 

Our Chieftain Roundhouse (11m diameter) is a perfect meeting place and provides an atmospheric space for hands-on educational activities. It features an open fire hearth and majestic pitch roof with exposed timbers and thatch.

 

Sleeping Arrangements

Each roundhouse can sleep up to 15 children, depending on age.

  • Separate roundhouses for boys and girls
  • Separate Roundhouse/Tent Accommodation for teachers
  • Camp beds provided for teachers; children bring their own sleeping bags and pillows.

Showers and washrooms

  • Three large washroom blocks (including an accessible toilet), featuring modern flushing toilets, sink area, and electric hand dryers
  • Electric showers with separate facilities for teachers
  • Fully accessible toilet and shower room.
  • 11 unisex toilet cubicles

Setting and Other Amenities

Located in 13 acres of ancient woodland, offering a peaceful and immersive natural environment.

  • Private location – with fencing around perimeter of the 13 acre site and night guard on duty
  • The Woodland Bistro for meals and refreshments with indoor and outdoor seating
  • Air-conditioned Prehistory Centre providing extensive space for educational activities
  • Gift shop for pocket money priced souvenirs
  • Car park with free coach parking facilities
