Step into the spirit of Samhain with a hands-on creative workshop exploring shadow, fire and the changing seasons through charcoal drawing and simple printmaking.

Samhain is a Gaelic seasonal festival marking the end of harvest and the turn into winter, traditionally celebrated around 31 October. In this beginner-friendly session, led by our art volunteer Elif Lewis, participants will explore these seasonal themes before experimenting with charcoal’s texture, tone and mark-making qualities — drawing inspiration from autumn, firelight, shadows and the natural world. Each participant will take home their own individual Samhain-inspired artwork or print.

Perfect for mixed ages and all confidence levels, no previous art experience needed! Ages 3+ (under-16s must be accompanied by an adult)
