Be a part of our friendly volunteer team.

Support the day-to-day running of the Prehistory Centre by welcoming visitors, sharing insights about our collection, and ensuring our visitors are engaged. As a Visitor Experience Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in bringing history to life for our guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and engage with visitors to create a memorable experience
  • Provide information about the Stone to Iron Age exhibition, Prehistory Centre layout, and educational purpose
  • Maintain a tidy, accessible, and welcoming environment within the Centre
  • Take money for shop purchases
  • Assist with events and activities hosted within the Prehistory Centre
  • Ensure the safety and security of our visitors and the collection
  • Support other duties in line with day-to-day visitor operations

Person Profile We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about history, education, and engaging with the public
  • Friendly, confident, and enjoys speaking with people from all walks of life
  • Organised and proactive in keeping spaces presentable
  • Reliable and adaptable to the needs of the day
  • Able to travel to our woodland site in Brickendon
