Midsummer Stories & Morgana Le Fay
Saturday 21st June
Saturday 21st June
19.00-21.30 with half hour interval
Step into the shadowed woods of the Chieftain Roundhouse at Celtic Harmony Camp and gather around the fire for an unforgettable evening of storytelling inspired by midsummer and one of legend’s most misunderstood figures — Morgana Le Fay performed by Xanthe Gresham.
Xanthe will weave stories of midsummer during the first half before performing Morgan le Fey after the interval. The pavement of patriarchy tried to obliterate the true Morgan le Fey. But wildflowers have a habit of breaking through concrete.
Blackthorn for binding, Nettle for weaving, Agrimony for sight.
In this performance for adults, Xanthe lets plants tell the tale of the woman who blew the whistle on the Knights of the Round Table.
Yarrow for healing, Blackthorn for binding, Hawthorn for the heart.
Told beneath the ancient beams of the Chieftain roundhouse and flickering firelight, this immersive experience explores the power, complexity, and humanity behind the woman so often cast as the villain. Was she a healer? A sorceress? A sister, betrayed?
Through rich spoken word and atmospheric performance, you’ll be drawn into the myths and histories that surround Morgana — where magic meets memory, and no story is ever quite what it seems.
‘”Unfolds stories like the petals of a lotus. At the end you leave with something beautiful created in your own mind.’ British Theatre Review
“Mistress of the art of animated telling without getting in the way of the story – dynamic, grounded and so focused. She loves the story, so we love the story.” Matlock Storytelling Café.
“Xanthe was enchanting. She lit up the stage and added a brilliant, new ‘surprising’ dimension to our festival.” Suzy Walker, co-founder of Alnwick Storyfest
Mead and refreshments will be on sale from the Woodland Bistro before the performance and during the interval
